Well, here we are on the road again. Well, kind of....
Let's start with a brief rundown of the next trip. A few months ago my my friend Jonny and I were induldging in a couple ales and talking about traveling, where we had been, and where we'd like to go. Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, and South America all came up, but it wasn't until Jonny started talking about his Scottish heritage that we actually thought to try the UK. So on a spur of the moment whim I said to him, "Jonny, let's go to Scotland."
"Really?"
"Why not? I've got friends there and I've never seen the highlands "
Fast forward a bit, here we are on our way. The general idea of the trip is to land in London, spend a few nights in Edinburgh, and then pick up some camping gear and trek from Pitlochry to Dunalistair. After that we just go where the wind takes us.
We left yesterday at around noon to get to White Rock to have dinner with Jonny's aunt and uncle. Here's where the fun begins! About 25km past Princeton my car starts stuttering and loses all torque. It still revs fine but only idles in gear. I tried turning it off, turning it on, and everything else I could think of, but it was no use. We had to call a tow truck (a $200 bill and an hour wait) and hitch a ride back to the nearest garage.
After a short diagnosis they determined it was not a quick fix. My poor little car is now stranded in Princeton. As for us, we needed a place to stay so I wracked my brains and remembered my old boss's sister lives here. After a few phone calls we found ourselves nicely settled in at the local music store for the night.
After a decent sleep we're now at a coffee shop waiting for the Greyhound that will take us as far as Abbotsford. Do until then, wish us luck!
